adidas Virtual Gear

In November 2022, the adidas /// Studio unveiled its first collection of blockchain-based virtual wearables in collaboration with adidas Originals, marking the debut of a new product category called "Virtual Gear."

This limited, 16-piece NFT collection was launched as part of adidas’ ongoing community-driven journey into the open metaverse, with early access provided to Phase 2 Capsule NFT holders after a teaser campaign with the adidas Discord community.

The Virtual Gear collection was designed for avatars and made interoperable, allowing items to be worn across a variety of Web3 environments. Highlights of the futuristic lineup included the "C2172" and "SPACE CRYSTAL" pieces, alongside creative nods to the brand’s heritage, such as the "NEOBONE," inspired by the classic Superstar’s sole pattern. The release also included limited-edition, creator-led designs from adidas collaborators Bored Ape Yacht Club, Gmoney, and Punks Comics, reflecting the brand’s ties to both virtual and physical communities.

The wearables became available on November 16th 2022. Owners of the 'Impossible Box' NFT could reveal and replace their box with a random item from the new collection by burning the original NFT.

Those without an 'Impossible Box' could purchase aVG items directly on NFT marketplaces like Magic Eden from the launch date onwards.
